The Lancaster Country Club is a private club located on over 400 acres in the south central region of Pennsylvania. Established in 1900, Lancaster Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in Pennsylvania and has continued its rich history and tradition for over 100 years. The Club is member-owned, governed by an elected Board of Governors and is managed by a professional staff.
Lancaster Country Club offers an extraordinary variety of amenities including 33-holes of golf, but their Flynn course is one of America’s best courses, consistently rated highly and constantly mentioned when the experts write about the classic competitive courses. And with the recent renovations, it’s even better!
The golf course superintendent at Lancaster Country Club is Todd Bidlespacher. Todd was raised in nearby Hershey, PA where at age 18 he began working summers at the Hershey Country Club, while attending West Virginia University (B.A. – Liberal Arts/Economics in 90’). After graduating, Todd started working full time at Hershey Country Club for Matt Shaffer, who is now the Director of Golf Course Operations at Merion Golf Club.
In 1992, Todd enrolled at Penn State University in the Turfgrass Management program and was promoted to Asst. Superintendent at Parkview Golf Course under Mark Malasavage. In 1994 he graduated from Penn State and became Asst. Superintendent at The Country Club in Pepper Pike ,Ohio for Matt Shaffer. In 1996, he went to work for Richard Bator as an Asst. Superintendent at the Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby,Ohio.
In 1998, Todd became the Superintendent at Kirtland CC until 2003 when he arrived at Lancaster Country Club. Todd looks forward to hosting the 2015 U.S Women’s Open Championship when the entire world will see what a wonderful course it is!
